Oliver's Sculpture & Story

My name is Oliver, I am from Dundalk, County Louth.  I thought that as this is a cross border [project] I have done a symbol of representatives of both communities.  I have done one in orange and one in green representing both communities on this island.  I have put a person maybe from Orange Loyalist community wearing a shamrock and a person usually a Republican wearing a poppy to show that this can be done.

The peace line in the middle is a sign that hopefully it will go one day that we won’t need peace lines.  It is representative that we still have this peace line in the middle, which one day should go.  If we could get to some form of agreement probably or some solution to this country - I think that most people on this island expect it of their political views and want to see some kind of peace.

We are not all strong Republicans or we are not all strong Unionists but I don’t hold that background.  I spent time in England and a worked for a lady whose religion didn’t see any difference to me. I think that [there are] those of us who believe in peace.
