Literacy & Equality through Alternative Methodologies

Location: Queens Armagh Campus, 39 Abbey Street, Armagh.
This two-day course was for adult literacy educators interested in using creative methodologies in their practice. Participants were introduced to the equality framework being developed by the Equality Studies Centre UCD and to a range of alternative methods, such as: create a Reflect Tree, build zipper sculptures, use drama and popular theatre, and produce collages.
The aim of the course was that on completion of the course students would be able to:
Use a series of creative methodologies in their practice
- Have reflected on the various dimension of equality and made connections to their practice
- Be informed of the Equality Framework being developed by the Equality Studies Centre, UCD
- Have examined a range of innovative methodologies that they can integrate into their practice
- Reflect on the various dimension[s] of equality and have made connections to the experience of their students including those related to the conflict.

This course is funded through PEACE II funding and lunch will be provided.
This course is accredited at Level 1, 5 Credit Accumulation Transfer Scheme (CATS) points through Queen’s University Belfast equivalent to 2.5 points, European Credit Transfer Scheme (ECTS).
